TRAVEL INFORMATION AND BUS ETIQUETTE

Each member of the team will receive an information letter at practice the day prior to meets.  Athletes are instructed to take these letters home to their parents.  Information contained in the letters includes dismissal time from school, departure time from Norfolk, location of the meet, time of the meet, meal arrangements, and the approximate time of return.

All team members traveling to a meet have a 9:00 p.m. curfew the night prior to competitions. Any team member out beyond the 9:00 p.m. curfew will not be allowed to compete or travel with the team the following day. The only acceptable reasons to miss curfew are church functions, school activities or family functions that have been cleared by Coach Schuurmans prior to that night.  Good Luck calls begin at approximately 9:01 p.m. the night prior to competitions.

Return trips from competitions are as important to the chemistry of a squad as the preparations and camaraderie of the competition it’s self.  Team members are expected to travel to and from all competitions with the team.  Team members who in special situations need to leave from a meet, can not leave prior to the completion of the meet, and can do so only with permission from the coach in charge of the team.  Clearance from traveling home with the team must be cleared prior to the meet and parents must meet the coach prior to the athlete leaving the site of competition.

The Norfolk Girls Track and Field teams travel constantly during the season.  Due to the length of our trips, the number of individuals involved, and the focus on competition, travel issues can become major concerns.  With this in mind team members are asked to follow rules of proper etiquette allowing everyone to enjoy their experience.
