ASIA IN A BOX

For this project, you will be creating a cereal box showing the culture of your chosen Asian Country. You will be given one empty cereal box after completing notes on your country. In this project, you will use drawings, photos from magazines, and other visual aids to design your boxes. TO BE SUCCESSFUL WITH THIS PROJECT, YOU MAY NEED TO DO SOME WORK OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSROOM!! Below, as usual, I will list what is needed for each part of the box. FOLLOWING THESE DIRECTIONS WILL HELP YOU TO SUCCEED WITH THIS PROJECT!!! Each section needs to be marked by me before you turn in the projects. I want to see your work as you complete this project. Make sure you have me sign your sheet. Failure to have my signature will lower your overall grade.

FRONT OF THE BOX: Checked by Mr. Mrsny ________________

a. Map of your Asian country with visuals of the land present. Visuals would

include: cities (including capital), rivers, lakes, mountains, etc.

b. You need to name your cereal as well. The name should reflect the

countries name or a part of its culture. Ex: Ukraine Krispies,

Londonberry Loops. Be creative with your name. This name should be on

the front as well.

BACK OF THE BOX: Checked by Mr. Mrsny ______________________

a. This part of the box should show photos of the people, photos of landmarks

this country is famous for, photos of the scenery found in your country. If

you cannot find pictures, then draw what you need to complete this part

of your box. DON’T SPEND AN ENTIRE CLASS PERIOD LOOKING FOR

PICTURES!!! AND YES, YOU CAN BRING PICTURES FROM HOME.

a. You need to create charts and graphs to illustrate the economy, literacy,

religious beliefs, groups of people in the country, etc. Charts and graphs

should be colorful and should stand out. DON’T USE PENCIL!!

BOX TOP: Checked by Mr. Mrsny _______________________

a. List statistics about the country. Areas to include would be: population,

land area, government/government leader. 5 total facts need to be on the

top of the box.

INSIDE THE BOX: Checked by Mr. Mrsny __________________

a. Three items need to be inside the box representing the land, people,

and the economy are placed inside the box. For example, a wool scarf

to represent sheep raising.

30-SECOND COMMERCIAL:

a. Using your main and supporting ideas, you will need to come up with

a 30-second commercial to advertise your “cereal”.

GRADING:

Each section is worth 30 points. There are 6 sections, so that would be a total of 180 points. Failure to complete only one section of this project drops you 2 letter grades.
