Hello again!  Everything is flying by so quickly, it’s unreal.  Hopefully everything is going well and everyone is able to hear about what has been happening in class.  We have done a lot of different things, and we have learned in a variety of ways.  My room is a room in which I would not call it a traditional classroom.  Some days we learn in rows, others in groups (both large and small), and some days we work in a large circle.  When we work in groups, we are constantly changing people in those groups in hopes that we get to meet everyone and learn to work with everyone.

I expect a lot out of the students.  In return, I know they expect a lot of me.  I only want their best work and their best effort.  The quote above helps to tell you why I change things up all the time.

A couple of things to keep in mind, tomorrow (Friday, September 19) is mid-terms.  Be watching for your grades to be sent home.  For all my sixth grade classes, we will have a test on Thursday.  For my seventh grade Math students, algebra will be kicked into high gear beginning on Monday.  I don’t have much else in terms of things to be on the lookout for, other than watch for an interesting assignment on Friday the 26th.

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:  Metallica’s new album.  It is much better than their last album.  Metallica has kind of gone back to their roots for this one.  It’s vintage “…And Justice for All” and the “Black Album.”  Not too shabby if you ask me.  Although I wouldn’t say it’s as good as those albums either.

WHAT I WILL BE READING:  I’ll be picking up Tony Dungy’s book “Quiet Strength” soon.  Probably as soon as this weekend.  For those of you who don’t know, Tony Dungy is the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts and does a tremendous job of balancing his job, his family, and other things that are important to him.  I’ll let you know how it is, as I look forward to reading it.
