Achievement Center

 

What is it and what does it look like?

 

Special Education Teachers role:

 

*      Learning Strategies Consultant to provide assistance for teachers to help meet the needs of Resource students while benefiting the entire student spectrum.*

*      Model strategies for teachers within the classroom as needed.           

*      Co-teaching with the classroom teacher, right down to helping plan lessons, etc.

 

*This is the ultimate goal.

 

Who can use the Achievement Center?:

 

*      Special Education students

*      At-risk students

*      High ability learners

*      ANYONE!!

 

Who is in the Achievement Center?:

 

*      Special Education teachers

*      Core teachers may be asked to help during special times to help provide a place for students to seek help.

*      Para-educators will have time scheduled within the Achievement Center to provide assistance.

*      Peer tutors may be pulled in to provide assistance for students that need extra assistance.

*      Other support staff members as a possibility?

 

What would students use the Achievement Center for?:

 

*      To have an assignment explained again (to not take away time from the classroom teacher as well as the class). The original lessons need to be provided by the classroom teacher and the AC will build on that lesson.

*      Finish class projects

*      Reinforce Learning Strategies

*      Have tests/quizzes read
