HAWAII:-)

Next, we traveled to Hawaii(4549 miles), our fiftieth state. It is located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean far from the rest of the US. Hawaii is also located in the tropics(warm year round).

We left Seoul on Saturday afternoon and flew to Tokyo and then on to Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii. We arrived early on Saturday morning...actually before we left Korea. This was because we again crossed the International Date Line. Here are a few pictures from this gorgeous island state.

Beautiful and odd Banyon trees flourish in the tropical climate of Hawaii. Branches actually grow to the ground and become part of the root system.

Gorgeous flowers like the Bird of Paradise are everywhere!

This was our view every morning as we lay on the beautiful beaches.

A great way to start the day...eating at the beach. Most of the pineapple in the US is grown in Hawaii.

Punchbowl National Cemetery is located in an extinct volcano.

Ellison Onizuka, a Hawaiian died when the Challenger Space Shuttle exploded. He is buried a Punchbowl.

Diamond Head is another extinct volcano with a great hike and view.

This beautiful lighthouse is part of the view from Diamond Head.

Pearl Harbor attacked by the Japanese on December 7, 1941, bringing the US into WWII.

Inside the memorial that is above the USS Arizona.

This battleship still entombs the bodies of over 1,000 crewmen!
