| Northern
Hills Elementary School is a K-6 facility where we believe that all students should
and will experience success every day. The curriculum is designed so students
become good communicators, effective problem solvers, and critical thinkers. Above
all, they will acquire the skills to become productive participants in a society
constantly in change and the confidence to believe in their ability to make a
difference. The curriculum includes: Language Arts (listening, reading, spelling,
writing, speaking and handwriting), an Accelerated Reading program, mathematics,
science, social studies, music (vocal and instrumental), health/physical education,
art, computer/technology, challenge (gifted), Title 1 reading, and special education.
Additional programs include: drug/alcohol awareness, All Stars (6th grade), multicultural
education, guidance services, media skills, and school age child care (SACC) before
and after school. Thirty-four percent of the 171 students enrolled at Northern
Hills are minority students.
