Norfolk
Public Montessori is a Kindergarten
through 3rd grade facility.
It is the mission of Norfolk
Public Montessori School to
carry on the Montessori methods
and teachings.
Maria
Montessori believed that education
is to create a learning environment
where each individual child
is allowed to continue the
process of the evolution of
their own learning. Montessori
emphasizes the interdependence
with all life. Students learn
through activities based on
learning style and sensitive
periods. Students learn to
become inner-directed or self-directed
rather than other-directed.
The students are guided, moving
from simple to complex and
concrete to abstract. The
Montessori method is based
on movement, activity and
habits of work and order.
